Whether you are heading to Red Rocks Amphitheatre or another outdoor concert or festival, don’t forget the essentials! Here’s my list of must-have items to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

While these important items are typically allowed at most outdoor venues, always check the specific venue’s policies on permitted and prohibited items before you go.

1. Clear Bag

In recent years, many venues have implemented a clear bag policy. I love this one, and the 12x12x6 size has plenty of room and is commonly permitted at venues. The adjustable strap is great for wearing across your body and leaving your hands free to carry a beer to your seat!

2. Outdoor Blanket

An outdoor blanket serves many purposes at a summer concert – it is a must-have for lawn seats, and extra warmth for chilly summer evenings. The waterproofing means that you don’t need to worry about spills and even if you do spill, it can be washed! As an added bonus, this blanket is packable and comes with a handy bag, which makes it easy to carry around.

3. Packable Rain Jacket

Even if the weather forecast shows clear skies, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been at a concert and caught in an unexpected downpour. This light, packable rain jacket fits neatly in your bag and comes in a bunch of fun colors!

4. Reusable Water Bottle

Paying for bottled water at a concert is no fun, bring your reusable water bottle and stay hydrated. The stainless steel will keep your water nice and chilled as well and the locking lid means your water won’t spill all over your bag and the concert poster you just bought!

*While most venues I’ve been to allow reusable water bottles, be sure to check in advance that they are permitted where you are going.

5. Sunglasses

Until the sun goes down, with polarized sunglasses. These ones are super cute, but if you happen to lose them it won’t break the bank.

6. Wine Tumbler

This tumbler is the perfect way to enjoy a glass of wine at your concert tailgate. I bring mine everywhere—the pool, camping trips, music festivals, tailgates, picnics… you name it! This one features a spill-proof lid (a total game-changer), and the stainless steel design keeps your drink at the ideal temperature—especially on hot days.

7. Earplugs

Protect your hearing and avoid that annoying ringing in your ears the day after a concert. These earplugs are easy to use and quiet the noise without distorting the music. They come with a handy carrying case and a clip to secure them to your bag, so you don’t need to worry about losing them.

8. Hydration Multiplier

When you’re dancing, singing, and spending hours under the sun at a concert or festival, staying hydrated is key—Liquid I.V. helps you do just that. With electrolytes and essential vitamins, it hydrates faster and more efficiently than water alone, keeping your energy up and helping you avoid dehydration headaches or fatigue so you can enjoy every moment.

9. Sunscreen

When heading to an outdoor concert, you definitely don’t want to forget your sunscreen! Sun Bum is my favorite brand – I love how it smells and it doesn’t leave me feeling sticky like some other sunscreens.
